Celtics draw first blood against Mavericks in Game 1

Porzingis provides spark in his return

Celtics take 107-89 victory

Boston, Massachusetts - Kristaps Porzingis made a strong comeback from a calf injury, scoring 20 points, including 18 in the first half, as the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night.

The Celtics, who have now won 10 consecutive games, took control of the contest early and never looked back. They led by as many as 29 points in the second half and cruised to a comfortable victory.

Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 29 points, while Jaylen Brown added 23 points and 10 rebounds. Marcus Smart contributed 18 points, and Al Horford had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Mavericks, Luka Dončić had 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. However, he was inefficient from the field, shooting just 26% (10-of-39). Kyrie Irving added 24 points, but he also struggled with his shot, making only 9-of-27 attempts.
